"But why have you assigned Yun Dan Yue Shu and that human youth to guard those two Xuan Tian relics? As I understand, the Er Yi Mi Chen Array is actually a celestial technique passed down from our ancestors, and the array's core points require no human attendants. If a true immortal were to truly reach that location, the array should have collapsed long ago." The indistinct figure expressed curiosity. "Hehe, I have my own reasons for doing so. By having them remain at the array's core, perhaps they'll even survive until the end." Ming Zun smiled lightly and didn't immediately respond. "Well, as the shadow of this alliance, I've always been indifferent to your secretive plans. However, if I can obtain a true soul pill from this true immortal, I must have it. With this pill, I will surely achieve the Nine Trials of True Immortality, and my chances of ascending to the celestial realm will be greatly enhanced. But even if this succeeds, the cost the alliance has incurred this time will surely be substantial."
"The indistinct figure said indifferently. "If we truly find the True Soul Pill, I'll certainly set aside one for you. As for the cost—there's always a return for every investment. I believe a down-to-earth immortal who can manage to bring down a celestial treasure from the realm below will surely be able to make up for this loss." Ming Zun spoke calmly. "I hope so. Well, they've all set off now. I'll go ahead. Ming Zun, don't expect me to step in and save you if you can't even withstand the first wave of attacks from the True Immortal. I won't intervene until the right moment." The indistinct figure chuckled softly, then twisted slightly before vanishing into the void in an eerie manner. Throughout the entire exchange, his face and appearance remained completely unchanged. "Won't you step in to save me? The same applies to you. If you fail to land a single blow, you might find yourself hard pressed to escape." Ming Zun's expression carried a touch of surprise, and he murmured these words almost in a whisper, barely audible.
At that moment, Han Li had already taken off, guided by the infantry officer, and plunged into the nearby Two-Principles Dust-Extinction Array. As previously introduced by Ming Zun, this array required over thirty-six thousand array flags and platters and countless premium crystal stones embedded at various points to be successfully established, thus encompassing most of the areas affected by the Shengsha. The two array foci, however, were located in opposite directions—far apart from each other. Under the officer's guidance, Han Li sped forward, and after only one meal's time, he reached the vicinity of the array focus assigned to him. From a distance, this array focus appeared as a grand altar surrounded by eight towering golden pillars. The pillars shimmered with radiant light, and layers of incantations and seals shimmered subtly in the surrounding air, with rows of infantry officers forming a protective circle around it.
The altar was triangular, entirely creamy white, smooth as jade, with a seven-colored light curtain enveloping its upper portion. At the very apex, something faintly shimmered, pulsing subtly.
"Senior, this is the array's core activating the token. These personnel are entirely under your command. However, the altar has already unlocked its concealment seal to prevent the other side from detecting it early—thus, you cannot ascend onto it yourself." The armored soldier who had led Han Li down came down alongside him. At the same time, he produced a silver token, held it out with both hands, and spoke respectfully.
"Of course. Though I am quite interested in the celestial treasures above, I won't overlook the broader situation." Han Li extended his hand, and with a "whoosh," the token materialized in his palm. He spoke calmly.
"Thank you, Senior. I shall then return to my post." The soldier stepped back slightly and then ascended once more, shooting off toward his original location.
Han Li only then lowered his head and studied the silver token in his hands. The token shone with a brilliant silver luster, bearing countless fine characters arranged in an intricate, almost mystical pattern that made one feel dizzy upon first glance. After handling it for a while, he gave a slight shake of his wrist and tucked it away, then strode steadily toward the altar. "Greetings, Sir!" As soon as Han Li approached, the nearly thousand infantry instantly bowed in unison. "Rise. Since I have taken charge of this site, my command is simple: anyone who fails to follow it shall be executed. Now, maintain your vigilance." After a swift sweep of his spiritual awareness over the soldiers, Han Li observed that most were at the Huashen or Lianxu stages, with eight even at the Héti stage—exactly one person leading a squad to guard each golden pillar. With a thought, he spoke calmly and evenly.
"Yes." The warriors stiffened, yet without hesitation, they all nodded and remained standing, still encircling the golden pillars. Han Li, however, flickered slightly, as if passing through them without resistance, and materialized directly beneath the pale white altar at the center. He glanced up at it calmly before settling into a meditative posture, his legs crossed. "This seems to be the Two Principles Micro-Dust Array," came a surprised voice from Xie Dao Ren's consciousness. "The Two Principles Micro-Dust Array? Shouldn't it be the Two Principles Extinction Dust Array?" Upon hearing this, Han Li's mind stirred, and he immediately asked in return through his divine awareness. "No. While the Two Principles Extinction Dust Array is indeed a celestial array, its function is relatively simple—primarily designed for eliminating enemies. In terms of subtlety and intricacy, it falls far short of even a fraction of the Two Principles Micro-Dust Array's capabilities." Xie Dao Ren replied without hesitation. "Ah. Then what are the specific advantages and subtleties of the Two Principles Micro-Dust Array?"
Han Li's gaze flickered slightly, and he asked slowly. "The Two-Principles Dust Array primarily possesses three functions: trapping enemies, weakening their strength, and self-explosion. Any one of these can cause significant difficulties for ordinary immortals—especially the final self-explosion power. As long as the array's core sacrifices a valuable object or a sufficiently powerful living being, even a high-level immortal may meet their end." Xie Dao人 explained. "Sacrifice of living beings, followed by self-explosion?" Han Li's expression tightened instantly upon hearing this. "Exactly. The core may sacrifice either rare treasures or powerful living beings. Once the sacrifice begins, everything within a hundred li radius of the core is immediately consumed and reduced to ash by the array's magical forces." Xie Dao人 spoke calmly. "Now I understand why Ming Zun insisted on having me, Yun Dan Yue, and the other two stationed at the core and not allowing us to leave easily." Han Li's face showed no visible surprise, yet his consciousness was filled with fury.
"Yet, according to what I know, even establishing the Two-Principles Dust Array in the lower realm should be no easy task, let alone the more intricate Two-Principles Micro-Dust Array, which surpasses it in complexity. From this array as seen here, it seems to differ somewhat from the one I'm familiar with." Crab Dao-ren added. "The materials available in the lower realm naturally cannot compare to those in the immortal realm. I suspect many components were substituted with alternatives, enabling the array to be set up at all. In that case, the array's effectiveness and power should have been somewhat weakened and altered. Can you identify these specific differences?" Han Li pondered for a moment, then suddenly asked. "It's merely a pseudo-immortal servant specialized in combat, not a dedicated array-constructing automaton. Recognizing certain immortal spell arrays is already at the limit of my capabilities. To pinpoint the specific differences, however, I am utterly unable." Crab Dao-ren replied frankly. "This does seem rather troublesome. While I intend to confront that true immortal, I do not wish to become a sacrifice and perish alongside him."
After a brief flicker of his gaze, Han Li said coldly, "If my friend merely wishes to ensure his own safety, then I have a method."
The Crab Daoist remained silent for a moment before speaking slowly. "What method?" Han Li immediately perked up at this. "I can make slight adjustments to the array's core, so that when it finally activates its sacrificial function, your current position will be exempted." The Crab Daoist stated calmly. "Is this method reliable?" Han Li asked, hesitating slightly.
"Very well, let it be as I have said." Han Li thought for only a moment and then decisively replied. "Good, but I need the King of the Gold-Eating Insects to assist me in carrying out this plan—only this insect king can accomplish it silently and without disturbance." The Crab Daoist said. "That will not be a problem. Jin'er, carry out all of my instructions precisely below, without the slightest deviation." Han Li agreed immediately and then sent a mental command to the Gold-Eating Insect King within the Spirit Beast Ring.
For the following moments, Han Li appeared as though seated motionless in place, yet a finger tucked within his sleeve merely flickered slightly, sending a flash of golden light shooting out—vanishing instantly and dissolving into the nearby void.
At once, a subtle ripple of energy, imperceptible even to a fully integrated cultivator, surged near the golden cylinder. From that ripple, a golden beetle the size of a grain of rice materialized spontaneously.
After briefly blurring, the beetle adhered itself to the cylinder, then, silently creeping forward, began leaving behind fine, almost invisible spiritual traces—so delicate that they were barely visible to the naked eye.
Meanwhile, within the beetle’s consciousness, the cold commands of Xie Dao Ren echoed continuously, and complete patterns of spiritual arrays kept emerging and unfolding in its mind.
All the merchants’ officers surrounding the golden cylinder naturally remained unaware of these subtle transformations occurring within the very object they were guarding.
Not only this golden pillar—over time, the other seven pillars were also gradually manipulated by the Golden-Feasting King, whose body had shrunk countless times.
