Chapter 2432: Farewell, Spirit King

Back to Chapter List
Two years later, Han Li sat quietly in the corner of the deepest chamber of Qingyuan Palace, his ten fingers rapidly sending out one after another colorful spell sequences toward the front. At the center of the chamber, there stood a pale golden spell array about one zhang in size, within which two green glass vials—one large and one small—floated, one above the other. The upper vial, of a bright jade-green hue, only a few inches in height, had its mouth inverted, and its surface shimmered with an unknown, mysterious light that flickered intermittently between darkness and brightness. All the spell sequences launched from Han Li’s fingers vanished into this upper vial without trace. At the center of the lower array, a tall, jade-green light vial, about a foot high, was tightly wrapped by numerous five-colored light filaments bursting from various points of the array. From its mouth, slender streams of unknown, translucent crystal light emerged, all of which were drawn upward and absorbed by the upper vial. Each time the upper vial absorbed a portion of the light, the lower vial grew slightly shorter in height and its color grew progressively duller. It took no less than half a day until the lower light bottle, shrunk down to the size of the smaller one above and nearly transparent, finally burst into a final surge of crystalline light that soared upward and was instantly drawn into the upper bottle with a single intake. Thus, as long as I employ the methods described above, I can now simply activate this treasure—no longer limited to merely stimulating the growth of elixirs." Han Li twirled the small jade bottle in his hands, a gentle smile playing on his lips as he spoke to himself. "To be honest, though I knew this item came from no ordinary source, I never expected it to be something even the Dao Patriarchs of the Immortal Realm would hold in high regard. Yet, how did it end up in the Human Realm? And why has only a portion of it remained? Has the bottle's spirit also been left behind somewhere in the Human Realm? Perhaps scattered to other parts of the realm?" After gathering the bottle in his hand, Han Li paused, his thoughts deepening. "Well, having obtained even this partial fragment is already a tremendous fortune. And my very journey thus far has been made possible precisely because of this treasure. The rest, I suppose, need not press for now. His current task was simply to diligently seal himself away for cultivation, thoroughly comprehend and fully perfect the several new divine abilities he had acquired, then refine and transform the major treasures such as Yuanhe Wuji Mountain and a few others. After that, he would continue to tirelessly cultivate, further purifying and thickening his spiritual power until he reached the level capable of withstanding the celestial ascension trial. However, before he could embark on this prolonged seclusion, there were several matters that had to be addressed first. After being surprised, Han Li immediately thought of the Spirit King. Though he still didn't know the identity of the host of the fate tablet, he was certain it was closely related to this enigmatic Spirit King. He had originally intended to go investigate right away, but due to the ongoing aftermath of the battle at Mingsha Land, he had been forced to remain at Qingyuan Palace, thus delaying his departure until now. "No foreign races have visited us in the past two years. It seems the time has finally come to address this matter," Han Li mused, narrowing his eyes as he settled on this conclusion. Yet the young man paid no attention to what was happening below. Instead, after a light exhalation, he spoke loudly and with no emotion at all: "Ling Wang, I have come to pay my visit. I hope you will step out to receive me." This young man was Han Li! Though his voice was ordinary, it resonated powerfully throughout the entire Fuling Mountain, carrying within it a profound magical essence. As soon as the aerial guards of the Ling race heard it, they all trembled and plummeted from the sky. Even among the other Saint-Ling cultivators who had not ascended, those who heard Han Li's voice immediately felt their inner qi stiffen, their spellwork falter—each one's expression turned instantly grave. At that moment, a voice of remarkable age and dignity finally emerged from within Fuling Mountain: "Ah, it is indeed Master Han who has arrived! I have been negligent in welcoming you. Please, come in!" As soon as the elder's words were finished, a section of the mountain's upper seal parted, revealing a passage wide enough for one person to pass through. Han Li smiled slightly, then moved his body, transforming into a streak of azure light and instantly vanishing into the midst. Before the grand hall on Fuling Mountain's main platform, an elderly man dressed in white stood at the hall door, his expression serious, gazing upward into the sky. A flash of azure light, and Han Li appeared like a ghost right before the elder. Upon seeing this, the white-robed elder's pupils slightly contracted, yet a smile appeared on his face. He bowed slightly and said, "Your mastery is truly profound, beyond measure. Now you've even become a force that commands the entire spiritual realm—how could you have the time to come all the way to me?" "Master Ling, you're too kind! I myself am merely fortunate to have earned this modest reputation. Moreover, for beings of your stature, such recognition may not be all that beneficial. As for why I've come here, I wish to inquire of you about a matter." Han Li began with a few courteous remarks before asking straightforwardly. "An inquiry? What matter would you like to know from me, Master Han?" Master Ling furrowed his brows. "Master, do you recognize the owner of this object Han Li didn't need to embellish his stories either. With a simple flick of his sleeve, an object shot straight toward the other side. The King of Spirit moved only his arm and instantly caught the object in his hand—none other than the fragmented life plate. Yet, upon sensing the subtle energy emanating from it, his face immediately changed. "This life plate was indeed one that Master Han took from the fallen immortal's moral essence," the elder said, his expression shifting between various moods before finally settling into a somewhat bitter tone. "It seems I've come to the right person after all." Han Li nodded calmly. "Master, please follow me." After a moment's further contemplation, the white-robed elder tossed the life plate back to Han Li, as though having made up his mind. Then, without waiting for any reply from Han Li, he turned and walked directly toward the hall. Han Li's expression slightly stirred, and he followed without hesitation. After a cup of tea's worth of time, they arrived at a mysterious underground chamber. Han Li stood before a luminous ice peak, gazing in astonishment at the young man sealed at the base of the mountain—remarkably handsome. The white-robed elder stood beside him, raising one hand in a series of gestures, then swiftly channeling a spell that instantly entered the ice peak. A moment later, countless white light points surged from within the ice wall, coalescing into a small figure of pure white, identical in appearance to the elder. This figure merely glanced at Han Li and did not display much surprise, instead offering a wry smile and saying: "Indeed, you have come. It seems that the true immortal who recently fell has finally found this immortal I have been holding here. This young immortal has quietly remained hidden within the spiritual realm for so many years—certainly bearing some great secret. It is no surprise that the immortal realm will send someone to seek him out. I did not expect much, though, and still harbored a little hope." "Originally, this immortal was subdued by my younger brother. It seems the tales concerning the friend are not entirely baseless." Han Li stared at the figure on the ice peak, then said thoughtfully. "My background is not something I can elaborate upon with Brother Han at this time. I shall wait until I have fully cast my spells before speaking in greater detail with the friend." The figure shook his head and, with a mere flicker of his body, transformed into a bright white glow, shooting toward the white-robed elder. After a swift flash, he vanished silently into the elder's form. The elder, who initially seemed only to possess a typical stage of a great transcendental cultivator, instantly radiated an overwhelmingly powerful aura with just a slight movement—his strength rivaling even the very top-tier immortals Han Li had encountered before. Clearly, this was indeed a true Ling Wang. Han Li's gaze flickered twice, and he said nothing further. On the other hand, after drawing back his aura, the Spirit King turned serious and asked韩立, "Since you've brought the life token here and met its owner, what are your plans now?" "Regardless of any connection this person may have with the immortal being I recently slew, I don't wish to leave any lingering concerns behind," said Han Li calmly. "Do you intend to slay this immortal as well? That would be difficult to achieve in line with your current intentions. If it were truly so easy to accomplish, then why have I spent so much effort sealing him here, maintaining my life essence fire to gradually dissolve his true immortal body?" The Spirit King shook his head in reply. "Ah, I see. When I broke through the mortal form of that celestial immortal who arrived, it seemed rather straightforward." Han Li expressed some surprise. "That's quite different. The immortal you slew was already under the constant pressure of the Spirit Realm's laws—his internal qi and physical body were largely consumed in resisting the ever-present forces of the realm." The true immortal that I have subdued has already undergone a transformation of his true immortal body within the spiritual realm. Moreover, he is unknown to have mastered the secret arts of the immortal realms, capable of sealing his spiritual power and divine energy completely within his physical form. His physical strength is likely far beyond that of ordinary true immortals in the immortal realms. Even with the use of the Heavenly Supreme treasures, his body remains unharmed. The elder in white robes explained.
