Chapter 2446: Ascension to the Immortal Realm (Final Chapter)

Back to Chapter List
"This is merely one unfulfilled wish of my former master, something that can only be accomplished after your master ascends to the heavens." Crab Daojun nodded and said no more. At that moment, the five-colored cloud masses in the sky grew ever more vast, radiating an indescribable sense of solemnity. "My friends, please take shelter for a while. I shall now proceed with my celestial trial!" Han Li raised his gaze once again toward the sky, narrowed his eyes, and spoke. The Magu and others naturally agreed, instantly activating their flight spells and shooting off toward the outer reaches of the desolate island. Meanwhile, Han Li waved his sleeve, and a beam of golden light shot forth, within which a small, purple-gold figure with a bald head and no eyebrows briefly flashed before vanishing into the void—none other than the Golden-Feeding Insect King. Only then did Han Li settle into a calm, composed posture and sit down. After a few brief flashes, Magu, Huixu Zi, and the others appeared in the high sky on the opposite side of the island, each halting their flight spells before turning to gaze toward the center of the island. Suddenly, a tremendous roar echoed from afar, and instantly, a dark, gaping hole materialized out of nowhere within the five-colored mist. As the roar intensified, a gray-white wind surged downward. At first, the wind was only a small stream, but as soon as it emerged from the hole, it swiftly expanded into a vast, surging sea of wind, pressing down with immense force. "The Heavenly Stairwind has appeared," said Huxu Zi, grinning at the scene. "Though this wind is powerful, Brother Han has already prepared for such a situation; it is nothing to fear." The celestial demon spoke calmly. As soon as his words fell, a lotus flower bloomed at the heart of the island—initially no larger than a house—but in a moment, it grew to several mu in size. Spinning gently, a shimmering blade of green light erupted from its center, sweeping through and cleaving everything nearby in its path. Despite the swirling sand and the roaring winds above, the lotus remained perfectly still at a low altitude, steadfastly shielding everything beneath it. This celestial wind blew for several hours. For ordinary cultivators at the Great Perfection stage, merely enduring this wind would be enough to cause them great suffering—draining a significant portion of their inner qi, making it impossible to withstand the even more terrifying subsequent heavenly calamities. Yet for Han Li, this amount of qi was nothing but a drop in the bucket. A deep rumble! The glow within the black hole flashed briefly, and the raging winds finally ceased. Yet first, a surge of intense heat surged out, followed by a gentle expansion of the black hole itself, which then floated countless crimson runes into view. Each rune was palm-sized, shimmering and translucent, with faint golden patterns subtly visible on its surface. After a series of continuous, deep puffs, these runes drifted a few times beneath the black hole before bursting into brilliant crimson light. Instantly, a dense downpour of molten rock began to fall from the sky, flooding the heavens with a deep red hue. Even though this vast island was far removed from the region engulfed by the lava rain, the people standing at its edge felt a wave of intense heat rushing toward them, accompanied by阵阵 sulfuric odors, causing everyone's faces to pale as they hastily activated various defensive talismans to protect themselves. The Mo Ling Sacred Vessel itself trembled slightly, then revealed a thick, dense black veil that enveloped all aboard, shielding them within. Nan Gong Wan and the others could not help but display a touch of concern. For them, even slight exposure to the power of the lava rain had already proven so overwhelming. How much more severe must the experience be for Han Li, who was situated directly beneath them? Even more troubling, all of this was merely the beginning of the heavenly calamity! A clear chime resonated within the jade lotus, and then a massive silver bird surged forth. This bird, when it first took flight, was only a few zhang in size. Yet, upon suddenly spreading its wings against the searing molten rock in the sky, its feathers instantly turned to a pale golden hue, and in an instant grew into a colossal creature measuring a thousand zhang in height. At the same time, an extraordinary cold force surged forth from the bird, instantly transforming the entire land within several thousand zhang into an expanse of ice-covered glaciers. ... After three days and three nights, various types of heavenly calamities poured down one after another, yet Master Han Li within the Qinglian calmly and seamlessly resolved each one. Now, under the relentless impact of these terrifying heavenly calamities, the entire island has been completely erased, leaving only the Qinglian, supported by a radiant light array, shining brightly below. The surrounding sea surface has dropped several zhang in depth, with half of it now transformed into a shimmering ice plain and the other half into a vast, churning sea of molten rock. All but a few senior cultivators—such as Ice-Purity Silver-Moon—had to retreat to more distant locations, waiting patiently. …… After the black hole in the sky suddenly collapsed and vanished, clusters of purple electric arcs began to coalesce within the multicolored mist—finally, the most terrifying Thunder Heavens' Lightning Storm descended. However, having prepared in advance, Han Li merely raised his hand, and a small gray mountain materialized spontaneously upon the Qinglian. After a smooth rotation, it transformed into a colossal peak stretching a myriad of miles high. A low hum resonated! Circles of gray halos immediately spiraled out from the mountain, spreading outward in all directions. Each time a stream of purple-gold lightning fell and passed through one of these halos, it shrank in size by a fraction. These halos contained a specific law-based power that perfectly counteracted the heavenly lightning. Some purple-gold arcs, even before reaching the ground, were completely dispersed into nothingness after being simultaneously swept by as many as fifteen halos. Yet the remaining arcs, regardless of the mountain's immense size, pierced straight through its form as if intangible, continuing their descent. Han Li witnessed the scene and suddenly his eyes burst forth with a brilliant blue glow, causing him to rise to his feet. A long, resonant roar surged straight toward the heavens! Instantly, a colossal magical deity with three heads and six arms materialized within the Qinglian. With a mere gesture of his hand in the air, a massive jade-green sword materialized before him. The deity paid no attention to the sword, instead roaring loudly, and a solid, tangible golden aura formed around his body, floating like a shield. With all six arms clenched, he delivered a powerful strike toward the sky. A series of thunderous explosions followed, and a vast, golden whirlpool materialized above his head. With a slight turn, a tremendous force surged forth from the vortex. Several falling purple-gold electric arcs, drawn by this immense power, were instantly swept into the whirlpool. The remaining few electric arcs that missed the deity struck the golden aura, causing it to tremble slightly but without breaking. This was precisely the celestial secret technique Han Li had mastered—the "Yuan Gang Shield." A cascade of purple-gold electric arcs fell, lingering for half an hour. When the time elapsed, the arcs softened, and in the five-colored mist, the silhouettes of purple-gold thunder dragons emerged and faded in and out. As they simultaneously extended their heads and opened their mouths, massive thunder balls—each the size of a house—rained down. "Boom!" The luminous shield on the three-armed, six-limbed deity cracked and shattered piece by piece under the swirling dance of several purple-gold electric serpents. As the five-colored mist surged and shifted, the thunder roared subsided, and the face that had materialized within it gradually blurred and lost definition. Behind this face, a brilliant streak of purple flashed, and then a long, graceful white fissure slowly unfolded, through which faint, resonant sutra chants drifted softly. The magical deity formed by Han Li beneath the "Gate of the Immortal Realm" had lost nine-tenths of his inner qi, only retaining one-tenth. Upon seeing this, Han Li's heart surged with joy, and he silently exclaimed in delight. With a single hand pressing a seal, his body instantly contracted, returning to human form. He raised his head, gazing upward at the milky-white fissure in the sky, his face aglow with excitement. Yet at that very moment, the colossal face, now nearly fading into invisibility, suddenly opened its mouth again. A thunderclap followed, and a brilliant arc of seven colors—radically different from the previous one—shot down, passing through the towering, emerald lotus peak in a most eerie manner, and reaching Han Li's head. "Unfortunate!" Han Li gasped, but immediately rubbed his hands together, then raised them toward the heavens, launching a continuous stream of golden lightning. As he shook his hand-held dark green wooden sword, it transformed into a soaring streak of dark green lightning, rushing upward to meet the arc. A resounding boom echoed throughout the sky. A vibrant glow, nearly illuminating the entire ocean, materialized in the void, only to flicker and shatter piece by piece amidst waves of fluctuating laws. As the green-bladed sword flashed once more, Han Li stumbled out, holding his dark-green wooden sword. At that moment, however, his face was pale, his body blackened, and his wooden sword had snapped in mid-air. Han Li lowered his gaze to inspect the broken sword, then raised his eyes to the colossal face in the sky. Only when he saw it truly vanish did he finally exhale deeply and feel at ease. "Ah, congratulations, Brother Han! You've successfully weathered the heavenly calamity and are now ready to ascend to the celestial realm." As the surrounding waves of energy rippled, a dim, misty light array flashed into being, and the figures of the magic light, Huo Xuzi, the crab sage, and the golden little person suddenly appeared together. The magic light smiled softly. "Yes, finally having passed through the ordeal of ascension, you're now truly on your way to becoming a true immortal," Han Li murmured to himself. The magical glow smiled slightly, just about to say more, when suddenly the milky crack in the sky erupted with an extraordinarily brilliant dawn light. A colossal, luminous white beam surged forth from the crack, instantly enveloping Han Li and the others in a blur. Within the beam, the light spun gently, and at once countless golden runes surged forth, while a wave of celestial laws so powerful it nearly suffocated the onlookers expanded outward in all directions, sweeping swiftly across every corner of the spiritual realm. The cultivators at the stage of Great Mastery and above, merely sensing this wave, all reacted with astonishment, immediately closing their eyes to absorb and meditate upon it. Seeing this scene, Mo Guang and Huo Xu both beamed at each other, then, with a subtle shift, one of them dissolved into a stream of black qi, merging into Han Li's body, while the other pressed a hand seal, transforming into a fiery orb that slipped into the inner sleeve of Han Li's robe. The King of the Gold-Feeding Beetle and the Crab Sage—one a celestial automaton, the other a spiritual creature of Han Li’s—naturally had no fear of this luminous column. Upon Han Li’s simple gesture, both of them transformed into two streams of light and entered the spiritual creature ring on Han Li’s wrist. The host of this face gave a gentle smile and said, "My name is Gao Sheng. Welcome, friend, to the Northern Cold Immortal Realm!" (The human realm and spirit realm sections of "The Commoner" come to an end right here! Hehe, I may write the immortal realm sections at some point in the future, but in these years, I probably won't be working on any further sequels of "The Commoner.")
