After a brief pause, the brilliant silver surged forward with crackling sounds, continuously spreading and ultimately engulfing the area where Colin Iliad, Deric Berg, and Loviya stood—yet it was halted by two invisible barriers that prevented it from penetrating inward. The barriers, now covered in silver electric serpents, trembled violently, cracking into branching fissures, and it remained uncertain how long they could endure within the lightning storm. At this moment, in the area behind the "Dark Angel" Salsir, on the side of the iron-black throne, where the Thunderwood forest did not reach, a figure emerged—Caine, wearing a half-high silk hat and a black long coat. He appeared like a precise, cold machine, without hesitation, directing his "Star Staff" toward the special evil spirit's flank, and swiftly sketching in his mind various elements related to an extraordinary ability.
— Kline had previously tested this, finding that within the "Hall of the Giant King," the "Staff of Stars" allowed only short-range "teleportations" rather than long-distance travel, so he abandoned the idea of directly transporting the "Dark Angel" Sathelir to outside the "Hall of the Giant King" to retrieve the first "Board of Desecration" and open the "Gate of Departure." As various gemstones embedded in the "Staff of Stars" began to glow, Sathelir's eyes, blazing with dark flame, suddenly closed once more. He had been forcibly pulled into a dream! This was a rare ability from the "Night" path, Sequence 7, but Kline was reenacting the version used by the Night Monastery's Abbot, the "Servant of Secrets," Arianna—an angelic-level forced dreaming. In the hazy dream world, the "Dark Angel" Sathelir appeared, dressed in a black robe adorned with silver threads, intricate symbols, and elaborate accessories, floating upon a vast wilderness.
His gaze remained cold, unlike most extraordinary beings who enter dreams with a state of blurred consciousness and dullness. "The Audience" belongs to the path related to the "Chaos Sea," with its Sequence 5 known as "Dream Walker" and Sequence 3 as "Weaver of Dreams!" Instantly, Sasliel's eyes turned golden and rose upward. His towering, giant-like form gradually faded, and a remarkably dense shadow "curtain" appeared before him, completely obscuring Sasliel—only a pair of eyes could be faintly discerned behind it. In an instant, this "curtain" parted to either side, revealing an ocean of indescribable hue, seemingly holding within it all the secrets of existence. Boom! As the one who governs dreams, Kline, witnessed this scene, he had barely time to examine the details before his thoughts exploded in his mind, as if a pot of boiling oatmeal had burst.
His lips naturally curled upward, the virtual persona fracturing halfway, nearly emitting a cry of pain. Subtly visible beneath the skin on his left face, translucent worms one by one twisted and emerged; on his right face, the flesh buds grew in number, prominence, and faded, growing increasingly delicate and approaching the essence of "spirit worms." The carefully constructed dream instantly collapsed, and the consciousness of the "Dark Angel" Sasselir returned to reality. Nevertheless, at the very instant this special evil spirit fell into sleep, as the thunderous ocean gradually faded and vanished, the three half-gods of Silver City simultaneously launched their counterattacks.
Colin Iliad straightened, driving his morning-sun sword in a forward slash so that the silver-sharp brilliance "materialized" upon Sasriel's body. Loviea, countering the constraints of her own shadow "cloak," directed her tending "silver knight" spirit to strike upward with a massive sword, summoning a terrifying storm composed of scattered light spots. Daryl forged a lance of brilliant, radiant "lightless" energy, sending it crackling toward the "Dark Angel."
This scene, unfolding with the grace of a divine manifestation, profoundly moved Lovira and Deric, prompting them to lower their heads in reverence, almost bowing in awe. The "Silver Knight" demon, however, rapidly dissolved and was completely vaporized under the intense sunlight. Suddenly, Sasriel's eyes closed once again. Behind him, despite the continuous evaporation and disappearance of the "spirit insects" upon his body, Kline endured the relentless scorch of the "Sun's Radiance," steadfastly directing his "Star Staff" toward the demon manifesting from the Angel King. He once more summoned the same extraordinary ability, forcibly drawing the "Dark Angel" Sasriel into his dreams. Yet, unlike before, as soon as Kline entered the dream, he immediately revealed his innate "Source Citadel" essence, transforming into a peculiar luminous portal tinged with faint shades of dark green. This portal was composed of countless, layered, ethereal spheres, each sphere embodying a coiled, translucent, and semi-transparent worm, thick enough to embrace a tree trunk.
Like him, "The Dark Angel" Sathilir revealed the special essence from the "Chaos Sea." First, he transformed into a dense, profound shadow, then unfolded the "curtain," allowing the ocean—encompassing all hues, and beyond human language— to emerge in the dream. In silence, Sathilir and Caine simultaneously opened their eyes, gently tilting their bodies in opposite directions. One was draped in a faint shadow; the other's expression twisted and became fierce, with numerous "spirit insects" crawling across his skin. Caine's virtual persona shattered completely. Seizing the moment when Sathilir was affected, Lovira, cloaked in shadow, had a flash of her pale gray eyes. With the pair of legs—growing from a mass of two-meter-high, pulsating flesh, without skin, flowing with fresh red mucus—she simultaneously pressed down onto the ground, harnessing the gust of wind to surge toward the "Dark Angel."
There was already a streak of madness in her eyes, suggesting that her spiritual essence would soon be completely corrupted and lose all control. Yet at this moment, Lo-Veyra's gaze was more grounded in reason and determination. She knew exactly what she was doing, and she was fully aware of her current state and the outcome that lay ahead. Amid the wailing wind, her collapsing body, along with the shadowy "cloak," settled upon the surface of the "Dark Angel" Salsir. The pulsing flesh seeped into his form, and the dense shadow rapidly expanded, encircling both figures. Without needing to speak, Colin Iliath instantly grasped her intent and roared low, "Attack!"
Thud! His two Dawn Spears simultaneously cleaved through the void, unleashing a brilliant silver glow around both Lo-Veyra and the "Dark Angel" Salsir. Upon hearing the chief's command, Deryk did not hesitate—he bit his lip and slowly unfolded his arms.
The palace, shrouded in a somber shadow, suddenly brightened. A massive sphere of sacred flame materialized out of nowhere, encompassing both the "Dark Angel" and Loviara, swiftly dissolving them and igniting their flesh.
"Yang Flame!"
Within this radiant glow, Loviara's pale gray eyes revealed a tangible, profound pain. Her voice echoed faintly and ethereally:
"I have not betrayed the Silver City..."
Before the words fully settled, the flesh and shadow "cloak" covering the "Dark Angel" Sasselir simultaneously expanded.
Thud!
Loviara's collapsing body was launched backward, landing on the ground, while her own shadow was directly torn apart, drifting slowly like delicate, translucent gauze.
Sasselir transformed into a vast, dark, viscous ocean imbued with an atmosphere of decline, absorbing the remaining silver brilliance and the "Yang Flame," and vanishing completely.
He immediately returned to his former form, still as a giant, clad in a magnificent long robe of black with silver threads, though his ethereal, dark wings had grown somewhat translucent. At the same time, His eyes rose vertically, now a vibrant golden hue. A turbulent, yet illusory wind surged around Him, carrying diverse thoughts and intentions that swept through every corner of the Shadow Palace.
"Mind stripped!" The "Gun of the Unshaded" that Daryl had just solidified vanished abruptly, leaving him stunned and motionless; although Colin Iliad remained resolutely steadfast, he too was stirred by the inherent madness, cruelty, and bloodthirstiness of his incomplete mythic being, forcing him to devote part of his mental focus to counteract these effects and prevent immediate collapse; even as Kaine had just stabilized himself, sending the "Spirit Insects" back into his body, he was struck by the intense fear induced by this "mind stripping," causing his body to tremble slightly and rendering him momentarily unable to wield his "Star Staff."
Loviya, already shattered and on the verge of complete spiritual contamination, writhed and rolled helplessly upon the ground, leaving streaks of bloodied, viscous mucus. At that moment, Sasliel, the "Dark Angel," raised his left hand, and the golden hue in his eyes was replaced by two compact, blazing white suns. A series of beams shimmering with sacred flame descended upon Loviya, extinguishing her soul and purifying her flesh. Her breath rapidly faded, and the pale gray gaze of her eyes quickly lost all luster. Her body, now collapsing into a mass of blood and tissue, curled up, cradling tightly against her chest the large, milky human skull—her arms, devoid of skin and streaked with fresh crimson mucus, pressed it firmly beneath her. Amidst the intense radiance of the "sunlight" and the burning sacred flames, Loviya remained in this posture, immovable, refusing to shift or allow the human skull to be exposed or harmed.
Another luminous column struck with resounding force, causing Loiyea's body to bounce slightly, yet she continued to tremble violently and curl into a tight ball. Eventually, the twisted, repulsive, pulsating mass of flesh ceased all movement, settling firmly over the human skull, dim, lifeless, and decayed.
While Sasriel, the Dark Angel, was eliminating Loiyea, Caine swiftly recovered from the effects of mental deprivation, drawing upon his unique qualities and past experiences, and began to feel an overwhelming sense of despair in the course of the battle.
Though they had given their utmost effort, they had only slightly wounded the evil spirit, and now with one half-god lost, the situation ahead promised to grow even more dire.
What could they do? As Caine used the "craving hunger" to shift his position, his thoughts raced, searching for any possible vulnerability in the enemy.
That essence was a malevolent spirit…a malevolent spirit…as soon as its form materialized on the other side, a sudden inspiration struck him, and he turned his gaze toward the gray-white stone slab upon the iron-black throne.
Some malevolent spirits possessed extraordinary traits, but most did not; their power stemmed from other sources, such as the realm of spirits. Malevolent spirits required a medium of existence—this might be the "territory" where they came into being, or perhaps a unique object or phenomenon—commonly, they could use these mediums to connect with the realm of spirits or even the realm of the dead, thereby sustaining their own existence.
And this particular malevolent spirit, originating from the "Dark Angel" Sathelir, perhaps infused with a trace of primordial will—where did its power originate?
This is a land forsaken by the gods, with its connection to the spiritual realm sealed off and nearly completely severed, making it difficult to effectively harness. Klein's ability to "transport" relies entirely on special gifts from the divine realms or their nascent forms. Clearly, the "Hall of the Giants" cannot provide the evil spirits with the power of the "Audience," "Sun," "Hanged Man," "Reader," or "Tyrant" pathways—the very attributes once held by the "Dark Angels" have now been claimed by the "True Maker" and are absent here. Thus, the source of the evil spirits' power is simply and clearly: the "Chaos Sea!" Within the Shadow Palace, the element directly linked to the "Chaos Sea" is the "Board of Desecration." When Klein gazes toward the iron-black throne, he notices that Colyn Iliad, the chief of Silver City, also glances in that direction.
