Klein remained silent for a moment, and the Grand Patriarch of the War God Church, Laryon, grew ever more solemn: "Moreover, the fall of the divine beings is only temporary. They will return, rising anew from within my body." ...Klein frowned slightly, uncertain whether the angel across from him was experiencing a mental disturbance due to the overwhelming number of anchors—soon to reach a point of collapse—or whether he had been deeply influenced by the 'War God,' to the point of becoming a strategic reserve in his own right. After all, even the true gods of Sequence 0, and even the Angel King and certain high-ranking angels, are not immune to dying without fully succumbing to the process! "You should be well aware that only a few more decades remain until the End. I believe the War God's revival will not be this swift," Klein tried to awaken Laryon with the harsh reality of the situation. Laryon scoffed: "The power of the gods—you will never be able to imagine it."
"He didn't give Klein another chance to argue, only smiled slightly and said, 'In short, I won't trade with you. Pray—pray for 'Night,' pray to your deities so that they may seal '0–02' and save you all! As for me, I'll be leaving within thirty to forty seconds.' Klein looked up at the sheer, endless curtain hanging from the infinite height above, said nothing further, and allowed the spirit to return to the library where the 'Trenzost Yellow Copper Book' was located. 'Have you thought of any solution?' he asked without delay.
Arianna shook her head slightly and then asked, 'What did Laryon say?'
'He asked us to pray to the deities, to ask them to seal '0–02'...' Klein said, and then suddenly paused, as though struck by something."
Larry's just now statement seemed perfectly sound, yet in an不经意 way, it revealed a crucial point: he believed the divine beings could seal off "0—02," no matter which one. So, how did the divine beings achieve this sealing? Through the direct suppression of the 0th position grid, or by leveraging their world-shattering power? Klein found himself generating one after another of such questions. At that very moment, the "Trenzostor Brass Book" turned to a blank page, and one after another, silver-colored words began to appear upon it—the language used was that of the first "Board of Desecration," seemingly the origin of all currently used languages.
In a matter of moments, these individual mercury-colored words formed a new clause: "The Municipal Library of Belland is the repository of the 'Trenzostor Bronze Book,' a site that must be rigorously protected. Any living being entering this place without the explicit permission of the 'Trenzostor Bronze Book' shall incur severe penalties." This raised the stakes—perhaps I'll even be sentenced to death outright in the next steps, he thought, quickly deducing the most likely developments. Yet he remained calm, even smiling, and spoke with sincere devotion: "My wish is that the Municipal Library of Belland shall shrink in size, so that the current position of myself and Lady Arianna becomes the dividing line." As soon as he finished speaking, he raised his hand and tapped his fingers once. Instantly, his wish came true.
Kaine and Arianna had unconsciously "arrived" at the落地 window, gazing through the open pane at the "Trenzostor Bronze Book" resting on the rectangular table. The distance between them and their target remained unchanged—still very close—but now they were no longer within the range requiring severe penalties, merely committing their first offense against the curfew, once again being struck by the invisible enforcers. Having accumulated one after another wish to restore the buildings, Kaine had now begun to create remarkable feats in this regard!
He didn’t make any further wishes, continuing to turn over the thoughts in his mind, analyzing the subtle meanings embedded in the previous words of the Patriarch of the War God Church:
“No, it’s not being forcibly suppressed through positional strength. Otherwise, my spiritual intuition would have already revealed the answer, prompting me to awaken the aura of ‘The Source Citadel’ and complete the sealing.
From a mystical standpoint, this is also understandable, since ‘0–02’ clearly relates to a certain source essence—positionally, it’s difficult to forcibly suppress through the attributes of sequence 0.
Could it be the divine power of the gods themselves? That might be possible, but it’s likely not the true method, since Larian himself possesses a method of sealing that doesn’t rely on the gods at all.
What makes the sequence 0 deities special? And how could angels achieve this special quality indirectly?
The most distinctive feature I can currently think of regarding the sequence 0 deities is that they embody ‘uniqueness.’ This is something I cannot summon from the historical gaps—something truly possessing the quality of ‘uniqueness.’”
"How could an angel indirectly simulate 'uniqueness'?" Kline's countless thoughts collided, sparking abundant flames, yet he still couldn't grasp the essence of the problem. At that moment, the mercury-colored words on the "Trenzostor Brass Codex" continued to seep out, forming new clauses that would classify Kline and Arianna among those to be penalized. After a quiet moment of observation, Arianna suddenly said, "I'll try to make the soil beneath the table invisible, allowing the '0–02' to sink into the earth's core. You, stay alert to prevent any unforeseen events."
"Invisible soil... sinking into the core," Kline heard, and felt a spark of recognition—this was indeed an excellent approach.
The "Tronsthorpe Bronze Book" currently only prohibits "touching" and "altering its own state." Its surrounding environment is not equivalent to its own state. Moreover, while the Belldan Municipal Library cannot enter without permission, this does not mean that Cline and Arianna cannot exert certain influences upon it. Once the item designated as "0–02," which has not been barred from leaving, traverses the concealed "soil" and descends into the Earth's core, it will lose its influence over Belldan due to the increased distance, thereby rendering its previously established rules ineffective—unless it further awakens or activates, expanding its jurisdiction to encompass a broader region. Thus, Cline and Arianna will no longer be constrained by these rules and can now seek assistance from the "Goddess of Night"!
Yet, just as Arianna finally conceived a solution and prepared to implement her plan, the new provisions were fully established: "The Beltrand Municipal Library shall be the repository of the 'Tronsthorpe Bronze Codex,' a site to be rigorously protected from any form of damage, by any living being or entity." Indeed, the "0–02" had sensed this very vulnerability... This very vulnerability... As Clain's brow furrowed, a sudden insight emerged regarding the earlier questions he had pondered: The special attribute of the Sequence-0 deities truly lies in their "uniqueness." However, it is not directly through this very attribute—nor through the corresponding power—that they have sealed "0–02." Rather, they likely exploit the quality of "uniqueness" to induce "0–02" into establishing a series of mutually contradictory rules, thereby placing the sealed object in a state of paradox or an endless loop! This approach—of creating such paradoxes and guiding their emergence—is something that angels, saints, or even ordinary individuals could potentially achieve on their own. The key lies in devising the paradox and orchestrating its emergence.
As for the recurring loop of "0–02," and how to seal it once the vulnerabilities are addressed—Klein currently has no clear leads and will need to observe further. How to create a paradox... In just a few seconds, Klein swiftly recalled all the rules "0–02" had established and the purposes behind each. He then quickly turned to Arianna and said:
"Madam, we won't damage the municipal library. Instead, we'll subtly weaken the rest of Belland, indirectly causing this location to lose sufficient support and collapse on its own, sinking into the earth's core."
Arianna didn't immediately comply. Instead, she turned her head and looked deeply at Klein:
"This will result in the deaths of many civilians."
"When faced with two hazards, we must choose the less severe one," Klein said, his expression serious.
Arianna said nothing, fell silent, as though engaged in a fierce inner struggle or preparing herself. At that moment, on the bronze page that had only just begun to bear two clauses, new rules emerged even more swiftly:
"Belthand is the city where the Bronze Book of Trenzost lies, the true holy sanctuary—no living being or thing may suffer any form of damage to it."
Seeing this clause, Caine did not feel disappointed; instead, a smile curled at the corner of his lips.
With a sharp snap of his fingers, he summoned a surge of crimson flame from within his clothing, which swiftly engulfed him. Within just a few seconds, a stream of flame descended from the sky, and Caine emerged from it, now accompanied by someone.
It was one of the four extraordinary beings he had previously rescued—Biles, a native of Belthand!
"Go in," Caine said, "and quickly turn the pages of that bronze book."
Klein pointed to the "0–02" on the rectangular table and calmly spoke to Byers. Byers didn't fully understand what had happened, but he trusted this magical "magician" who had fulfilled his two wishes—believing now that he had found a way to rescue the entire city of Beldan. So, taking a deep breath, he stepped through the open floor-to-ceiling window into the shrunken municipal library. Throughout this process, he faced no severe punishment, let alone any whipping! Seeing this scene, Klein's smile grew even more evident. A paradox had emerged with the "0–02"—because of Arodes' existence, the "Trenzosth Yellow Book" could only impose the most comprehensive prohibition, preventing any living being or thing from causing any form of damage to Beldan. Yet, Beldan, as a city, was defined not merely by its terrain and buildings, but also by its people and inhabitants.
Thus, if "0–02" imposes penalties on the citizen of Belland, Byers, causing any meaningful disruption, it would violate the rule just enacted; yet if no penalties are imposed, it would breach the series of ordinances prohibiting entry into the municipal library. Consequently, the "Trenzosth Yellow Copper Book" becomes trapped in a state of deadlock! Of course, Cline believes this level of paradox will soon be resolved through supplementary provisions; all he hopes for is that Byers will, before then, open the Yellow Copper Book and discover the clues inscribed within. "Keep a close watch on the currently spread page—whenever a clause begins to take shape, come immediately," Cline said, gazing steadily at Byers and "0–02."
